How to request a meeting step-by-step

To find your lawmakers visit https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member

and type in your zipcode.

Your results include your two senators and your US representative. Click to visit their profile on Congress.gov and under their photo is a link to their website.

Step four: call the office for a meeting

On your lawmaker’s website, scroll down to find the Schedule a meeting option and fill out the form. The federal assault weapon ban you’d like to discuss is bill S.25 (senate)/H.R.698 (house).

If there’s no option to request a meeting via the website, call your lawmaker’s D.C. office and ask for the scheduler. They will either connect you or give you the scheduler’s email address.

If you are connected to the scheduler, tell them you’re a constituent and you’d like to schedule a meeting at your local office with your lawmaker to discuss the federal assault weapon ban S.25 (senate)/H.R.698 (house).

If you’re given the scheduler’s email, use this template: Hello, my name is _____. I’m a constituent and I would like to request a meeting at my local office to discuss the federal assault weapon ban S.25/H.R.698. Thank you.
